Koshu Nishiyama Hot Spring, Keiunkan is certified as ‘the world’s most historic inn’ in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is an inn at the foot of the South Japanese Alps in Yamanashi Prefecture and has all of its hot water directly sourced from the hot spring. Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, founded in 705 A.D. located in Yamanashi, Japan is the oldest operating hotel in the world.
Running this hotel same family for centuries, and 52 generations of descendants have passed for and operated the establishment. It’s officially the oldest hotel in the world by the Guinness World Records.
The owners strive to keep the same look and feel. They’ve expanded the space and added several modern amenities, but despite these enhancements, the hotel still maintains its traditional atmosphere. With its simple, minimalist rooms and the calming mountains of Kyoto in the background, the inn almost feels like an anachronism from a distant past.
Imagine staying a night at this hotel.
