6 Events Being Held In Kathmandu In Celebration Of International Women’s Day

International Women Day is celebrated on 8th March every year to recognize the achievements, determinations and act of courage’s despite of their caste, religious, nationality, economic or political status. It is seen as a global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender party.

Likewise in Kathmandu, Nepal various events are been organized to empower women’s rights. The events are all about unity, celebration, reflection and action of women’s in Nepal and worldwide. The events held in Kathmandu to celebrate the women empowerment are listed below:

1. Women with Vision

The event is held on 8th March 2018 in Hotel Yak & Yeti from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. In this events participants gets to hear the life story and struggles of women and be inspired from them. Additionally awards ceremony will also be held to recognize women for their Excellency.

Ticket charge for the event will be 1,000 NPR which includes Hi Tea and snacks.

2. Center for Gender and Sexuality Studies Batch II

The event main motto is to provide a course on gender and sexuality. The course will be an 18 credit hours class which will be divided into a two-day session with 6 credit hours per day to build critical analytical skills among adolescent and youth on issue of gender and sexuality. It is held on 8th March 2018 to 10th March 2018 in YUWA, Maharjgung.

Only students below 29 years are encouraged to join with NPR 1500 as entry fee and needs to apply for the course before 26th Feb 2018.

3. International Women’s Day 5k Fun Run/Walk

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2018 on March 10th at Jawalakhel Football Ground at 7:00 AM running program has been organized. Gentlemen are also welcomed to participate during the “Family Run” section and NPR 300 will be charged as a registration fee.

4. She is the StoryTelling Session

Hosted by Voices of Women Media on 7th March 2018, at Chagal, Kathmandu, Nepal

As a part of the celebration, in the event they will sharing stories of some remarkable women which has the potential to give hope, to inspire, and to change the lives. While sharing their personal stories, most often they find that it itself is an act of self – empowerment.

5. WHR: International Women’s Day Celebration

Women for Human Rights, single women group (WHR) will be organizing rallies simultaneously in all of its 73 district offices marking International Women’s Day on 8th March. Elected members from respective provincial government, members from representative community, women development officers, and single women groups will be participating in this event. In Kathmandu, the event starts at 09:30 AM from Khelchour to WHR Central office at Baluwatar.

6. The StoryYellers – Session 17

The event is taking place on Tangalwood, Tangal, Naxal, Kathmandu on March 7th, 2018, 5:30 PM onward. One can come, listen and get inspired with the stories of people like you and us.
