7 Timeless Stories That Articulates Love Will Overcomes Everything

The love between a man and a woman is one of the purest virtues of humankind. Love defies everything. In this world bursting with violence, love is the lone way to spread peace. It brings bliss to the heart and provides the much-needed valor to overcome all hindrances in life. Love conquers all.

Lord Krishna and Queen Rukmini


In Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna is considered the everlasting symbol of love. His epic story with Radhika is the most known of them all, but Lord Krishna loved his queen, Rukmini, the most. Rukmini was the princess of Vidarbha. She had eloped with Lord Krishna when her father arranged a marriage with another King.

Paris and Helen


According to Iliad the great Greek epic, Helen, the most gorgeous woman in the world fell in love with Paris the prince of Troy at first sight. Later on, Paris eloped with her and brought her to his home Troy. This episode started the great war that concluded with the death of thousands and the complete annihilation of Troy. Amidst this desolation, the love between Helen and Paris endured through time.

Lancelot and Guinevere


This particular love story revolves around the legend of King Arthur of Britain. Guinevere was the wife of King Arthur who fell in love with the King’s most trusted knight, Lancelot. Their secret love caused the downfall and death of King Arthur. The entire realm of knighthood was shattered after their love was known. Guinevere and Lancelot remained separated until their death.

Heer and Ranjha


The Heer and Ranjha story ended in tragedy. Heer and Ranjha hailed from present-day Punjab. Ranjha was a passionate flutist, Heer fell in love whilst listening to his flute. They belonged to unalike communities and their marriage was denied. After repetitive efforts, their marriage was green-lighted but conspiracy craved in taking Heer’s life. Ranjha also killed himself after Heer’s death.

Penelope and Odysseus


Penelope had arranged a competition to find the groom. Many noblemen tried their luck but all of them failed. Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, disguised himself as a beggar, accomplished the set task and married Penelope.

Anthony and Cleopatra


Marc Anthony, the decorated Roman general sent by Rome to look after foreign affairs in Egypt fell in love with legendary Cleopatra, the ruler of Egypt. Cleopatra was also attracted to Marc Anthony intensely. But Octavius Caesar intruded and conquered the army of Cleopatra. Misinformation about the death of Cleopatra reached Marc Anthony. Being upset by the news he slew himself. Cleopatra tried to pacify and control Octavius. Failing to do so she also committed suicide with a snake bite.

Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan


Mughal ruler Shah Jahan builds the eternal Taj Mahal for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The untimely demise of Mumtaz urged Shah Jahan to immortalize his love towards her. To express his undying love, he constructed the Taj Mahal, which still stands as a symbol of love.
