This Amazing Castle In Italy Has Been Abandoned For Decades And Only Recently Photographed

The Netherlands-based photographer Roman Robroek recently traveled to a splendid castle in Italy. The Castello di Sammezzano is a show-stopper, a jaw-dropper, an electrifyingly beautiful Moorish castle that was built over 4 centuries ago in 1605.

Today it is a object of an auction, its destiny unsure. The construction has been looked after by volunteers for decades. Its ceilings and floors are ornamented with stunning mosaics. Colorful stained-glass windows beautify all the rooms. The castle, hidden away in the Tuscan hills of Northern Italy, is open to the public on guided visits.
