2024’s internet celebrity Hawk Tuah Girl has responded after being accused of ‘scamming’ fans with her new cryptocurrency.
Haliey Welch unexpectedly shot to fame earlier this year after she appeared in a street interview and asked for her thoughts on ‘what makes a guy go crazy in bed’.
Given Welch’s nickname, you can probably guess what her response was.
The clip wasn’t anything particularly spectacular, I’m sure there’s plenty of other people who could come up with similarly inventive responses, however, Welch’s clip just happened to be in the right place at the right time and catapulted her into the world of viral internet fame.

Welch has since utilised her unexpected fame to launch a podcast and more recently, her own meme cryptocurrency named HAWK.
The coin became available yesterday (4 December) and swiftly gained a value of $490 million (£384 million).
However, things have since taken a major downturn from there, with the coin swiftly losing 91 per cent of its value, according to CoinTelegraph, currently trading at a value $41.7 million (£32.6 million).
The situation has left a lot of people out of pocket and they aren’t happy about it.

Several disgruntled buyers have since taken to social media to claim that they’ve lost tens of thousands on the investment, while others have accused the influencer and her team of making a profit at her followers’ expense – some even argued that Welch ‘deserves to be in jail’.
“I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings,” one person wrote on Twitter. “I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well.
“You didn’t mention that you were going to buy 97% of the supply and sell it almost immediately to make a large profit.”
Welch has since shared a statement in response to the allegations, sharing a copied response which reads: “Hawkanomics: Team hasn’t sold one token and not 1 KOL was given 1 free token.
“We tried to stop snipers as best we could through high fee’s in the start of launch on @MeteoraAG. Fee’s have now been dropped.”
Meanwhile, overHere, who launched HAWK, have also attempted to clarify the scenario online, releasing a lengthy statement refuting the allegations that Welch’s team had been selling the tokens.

“Haliey’s Team has sold absolutely no tokens whatsoever,” the statement read. Haliey’s Team has a 10% allocation, which is locked for 1 year and vested over 3 years.
“The rest of the tokens are distributed into the different wallets as according to the tokenomics.
