Baldwin is currently regarded as a leading figure in the field of broadcast journalism. In the early years of her career, which she began in 2001, Baldwin worked at WVIR-TV in Virginia’s Charlottesville city. She later took a job at WOWK-TV network as a morning anchor in West Virginia’s cities of Huntington and Charleston.

She also did a stint as a lead reporter at WTTG in Washington for the 10 p.m. newscast. Apart from her skills in broadcasting, Baldwin is also known for her capabilities as a great speaker and orator taking up many assignments of speaking at public and private events.

Early life and Education

Baldwin was born on July 12, 1979, in Atlanta Georgia, to American parents in a middle-class family. While she is an American citizen her ethnicity is white. As a child, she attended and graduated from The Westminster Schools which is a private college and preparatory school. At the age of 13, Baldwin joined the United States Space Camp and was made mission commander.

During her undergraduate years, Baldwin attended Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico. However, she later attended the University of North Carolina from where she graduated with dual Bachelor degrees in Journalism as well as Spanish Literature, in the year 2001.

Career Rise

Baldwin is based in New York where she works for CNN’s New York bureau as an anchor at the CNN Newsroom in the 2 to 4 p.m. slot. Her role requires her to be behind the desk, breaking stories and events as they occur in real-time. While this is her regular weekday job, she also performs other duties at CNN. Baldwin co-anchored and covered the final launch of Atlantis, the Space Shuttle that was launched from the Kennedy Space Centre on 8 July 2011.

She, along with England’s Piers Morgan hosted and covered Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London from 3-5 June 2015. She has also hosted many popular cultures and entertainment celebrities including Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Lena Dunham, Janelle Monae, Mavis Staples, etc.

Her other achievements include her coverage of the inauguration ceremony of President Obama in 2013 and President Trump in 2017 from Washington D.C. During the Orlando Pulse nightclub mass shooting in America, Baldwin reported live from the scene where about 50 people were murdered and 55 were injured, speaking to the victims and survivors of the attack. She has been hosting New Year’s Eve Live along with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin for the CNN Network since 2010.

Baldwin made a documentary titled “To Catch a Killer” which earned her a Silver World Medal and was applauded as the Best Investigative Report at 2012’s International Television & Film Awards in New York.
